The Academic kondigt tweede album aan

Met de zin "I need to be adored", lijkt de band richting The Stone Roses te knipogen, maar de Ieren zijn zeker geen kopie van die legendarische band uit Manchester.

De populaire en succesvolle Ierse indierockband The Academic heeft een tweede studioalbum 'Sitting Pretty' aangekondigd. De opvolger van 'Tales From The Backseat' uit 2018, dat op nummer één in de Ierse albumchart terechtkwam, verschijnt op 10 februari via EMI. Tegelijk met de albumaankondiging heeft het jonge viertal uit Mullingar, dat grossiert in sterke, energieke en catchy gitaarsongs en in Nederland radiohitjes scoorde met Different, Mixtape 2003 en Bear Claws, nieuwste single Pushing Up Daisies uitgebracht.

Over Pushing Up Daisies, hier op Spotify te beluisteren, zegt de band: “Pushing Up Daisies is our ode to insecurity and ego in equal measure. It tackles the hectic nature of our current circumstances. The ecstatic highs and the unbearable lows of life in you twenties.”

En over het album zelf vertellen ze: “'Sitting Pretty' is an album about navigating life in your 20s; the uncertainties and the ever-shifting sense of self. It’s about the entrance into true adulthood and how that can alienate you from yourself, making you feel like you’re playing a supporting role in your own life. In one moment feeling on hundred percent certain about everything, only to become overwhelmed with feelings of aimlessness and lack of direction in the next.”
