Sub Pop lanceert nieuw werk Sunn O)))

Drie nieuwe nummers werden uitgebracht, waarvan er ongetwijfeld ook op 1 november in de Botanique te horen zullen zijn.

De eerste release van Sunn O))) bij Sub Pop is een maxi 12" met daarop drie nummers: Eternity's Pillars, Raise The Chalice en Reverential. Je kan de nummers streamen, maar dus ook live gaan horen in de Botanique tijdens Les Nuits Weekender.

De drie nummers werden geschreven door Stephen O'Malley en Greg Anderson en geproducet door Sunn O))) en Brad Wood. Het zijn de eerste nummers, waarop enkel het kernduo van de band op elektrische gitaren en synths te horen is.

"Eternity's Pillars is named for the mid-1980s television program created and hosted by jazz visionary and spiritual guru Alice Coltrane Turiyasangitananda, focusing on her incessant belief in music's capacity to attain spiritual transcendence. Raise The Chalice is named for a rallying cry often uttered by Northwest legend Ron Guardipee throughout the mid-1990s. Reverential equally pays respect and sends loud praise to those who came before us with the heaviest burdens, expressions with music and art being the materials of an antiphon", luidt de uitleg van de band.
