Will Butler brengt nieuwe plaat naar Benelux

'Willows' is zijn eerste nieuwe werk sinds mei 2022 en het debuut met Sister Squares.

Want voor de nieuwe plaat werkte Will Butler samen met Sister Squares, de band bestaande uit Sara Dobbs, Julie Shore, Jenny Shore en Miles Francis, die al af en toe als backing band met hem tourden sinds 2015. Nu is de samenwerking verzegeld.

Het eerste nummer uit de plaat is het titelnummer. "There's something eternally hopeful about the sound of voices singing in a room together", zegt hij daarover. "'Humans singing together in a room' is probably the prime philosophical building block of this band."
 
"Willows is about leaving the past in the past", liet Butler nog weten. "Nostalgia is sweet, but it's a poison. The scene of the song is someone driving off into the wilderness to meet an old woman—one of the Fates, like in a folk tale. And maybe he wants to be young again, or wants things back the way they used to be. And she says: Anything can happen, for a price."

Op 14 november stelt hij samen met Sister Squares de plaat voor in Rotown, Rotterdam. Twee dagen later speelt het gezelschap in de Brusselse Botanique.
