Vijfde album voor Pulled Apart By Horses

Problemen, problemen voor deze indie posthardcoreband.

Of niet? Want Pulled Apart By Horses tekende onlangs een platendeal bij Alcopop! Records en zal daar zijn aankomende, vijfde studioalbum uitbrengen in het voorjaar van 2022.

Als voorproefje onthulde de band de single First World Problems, een nummer dat ze schreven voor de pandemie, maar dat nog altijd relevant is.

Zanger Tom Hudson: “What you see is what you get. A voiced frustration towards our groomed, individualist society, where the real world and our online world is full of constant venting of minor/trivial annoyances as if they are the centre of the universe, when really there are more pressing matters out there and a far bigger picture.”

De muzikale inspiratie voor First World Problems komt volgens de band van garage rock uit de late jaren zeventig; postpunk en vooral door heavyweightrockers als Iggy And The Stooges, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie en The Cramps. Het aanstaande nieuwe album laat een band horen die bewust kiest voor nummers die minimalistisch, eenvoudig, direct, rauw en urgent zijn. De grootste verandering in de benadering van de band is dat frontman Tom Hudson geen gitaar meer speelt maar zich uitsluitend op zijn zang concentreert.

PABH’s kenmerkende gitaarduels behoren dus tot het verleden.

Tom Hudson: "The fat was trimmed. We spent months playing the songs for the new album in our practice space and on a small ‘up close and personal’ UK tour to set them in stone. We headed to the Nave studio in Leeds off the back of that tour and captured the tracks live, tour tight and locked in!”
