Tweede album voor Robbing Millions

Dan maar op reis in mijn eigen hoofd, dacht Lucien Fraipont.

Robbing Millions, het psychedische project van de in Brussel gevestigde en klassiek geschoolde jazzgitarist Lucien Fraipont, heeft meteen twee tracks gedeeld van zijn tweede album ‘Holidays Inside’, dat op 25 juni uitkomt via Andrew VanWyngarden en Ben Goldwassers label MGMT Records, dat eerder alleen het eigen materiaal van het duo heeft uitgebracht.

Tiny Tino klinkt als een opgegraven Wally Badarou-nummer met daarbovenop kinderlijke zang en bevat elementen uit videogamemuziek, progressieve Italiaanse rock en R Stevie Moore's weirdo-pop. Het nummer wordt begeleid door het rustige folk prog instrumentaaltje Dynamic Plants.

Fraipont zegt zelf: “Tiny Tino is an ode to friendship and to the East LA neighbourhood where I stayed for several months working on Robbing Millions’ upcoming album. It’s also about trying to be someone you’re not. The little, scarier than intended, puppet you’ll see wandering around the neighbourhood in the video is trying to act cooler and tougher than it is. Although the song has a weird 9/4 time signature, I think of it as a naive playful song with a whistle friendly melody. You could see it as Robbing Millions’ take on salsa music.”
