Nieuwe bootleg van Miles Davis en John Coltrane op komst

Via Columbia/Legacy Recordings komt er een volume zés uit van de samenwerking tussen Miles Davis & John Coltrane.

Die release met als titel 'Miles Davis & John Coltrane - The Final Tour: The Bootleg Series Vol. 6' zal vanaf 23 maart in de winkels liggen.

Het gaat om een boxset met vijf liveperformances: twee shows in de Parijse L'Olympia (21 maart 1960), twee shows in de Stockholmse Konserthuset (22 maart 1960) een eentje in de Tivolis Koncertsal te Kopenhagen (24 maart 1960).

Meer toelichting door Ashley Khan (auteur van boeken over Miles Davis en John Coltrane): "much happened on that 1960 tour onstage and off, including powerful, emotionally charged performances in which one can hear the swinging, divergent energy of a band, and the unfiltered reactions of the European audiences: the crowd responses are indeed an inherent part of these historic performances."

Het repertoire in de collectie bestaat grotendeels uit de bekendere Miles Davis 'hits' als Round Midnight, Bye Bye Blackbird, On Green Dolphin Street, Walkin', All Of You en Oleo als tracks uit 'Kind Of Blue' zoals So What en All Blues.  

Leveren naast Davis (trompet) en Coltrane (tenorsax) bijdragen: pianist Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers op bas en Jimmy Cobb op drums.
