Kate Davis brengt viskom naar Botanique

'Fish Bowl' is het tweede album van Davis en het eerste voor ANTI-, dat op 24 maart uitkomt.

Op die plaat volgt Kate Davis de reis van haar eigen held vanaf het moment dat ze afstand neemt van haar oude leven tot het moment dat ze innerlijke rust vindt. Ze volgt deze stappen door de ogen van FiBo, het centrale personage van 'Fish Bowl'. Die begint met het openingsnummer en single Monster Mash, zich realiserend dat de gemeenschap, die ze cultiveerde, zich tegen haar heeft gekeerd en op zoek gaat naar echte verandering.

Net zoals Consequences, Monster Mash en Call Home kreeg nieuwe single Long Long Long een clip mee, geïnspireerd door Y2K. In een gifgroene pickuptruck rijdt ze doorheen het heelal. “This song longs less for a person, and more for answers,” zegt Davis. “There’s an insatiable craving for clarity and destination. I think that’s why I was so attached to the visual of driving endlessly through the night. Time is explicitly described, but in the same breath, it means nothing".

Het nummer kwam heel gemakkelijk tot stand. Zo zegt ze zelf: "Long Long Long was a co-write with Oli Deakin of Low Pines. Oli sent me a super sad instrumental at exactly the right moment. I was doing a lot of thinking and grieving in the aftermath of a breakup and felt incredibly comforted by this sonic world that he had built. It opened up an opportunity to flow in a stream of consciousness way over a landscape that was far more spacious than what I would have come up with. I just remember plugging in my mic, blinking, and the song was finished.”

In het nummer refereert ze aan drie songs die voor haar vastzitten aan een herinnering en een bepalend moment in haar leven: One Week van Barenaked Ladies, Can’t Get You Out Of My Head van Kylie Minogue en Stuck On You van Failure. "Out of all the songs on ‘Fish Bowl,’ I might be attached to this one the most. It helped me tease out some personal desires and truths," aldus Davis nog.

Op 21 mei staat ze met de nieuwe plaat in de Botanique.
