Imarhan lijft (even) Gruff Rhys in

De voormalige frontman van Super Furry Animals doet mee op de nieuwe single van de woestijnrockers.

Op 28 januari lanceert Imarhan een volgende single uit het derde studioalbum 'Aboogi'. Het nummer werd opgenomen in de eigen Aboogi Studio in Tamanrasset, Algerije en wordt gezongen in het Tamasheq en het Welsh. De bijhorende video voor Adar Newlan, die je hieronder kan bekijken, werd geregisseerd, getekend en geschreven door Hugo en Rodolphe Jouxtel van Fantômes.

Imarhan ontmoette Gruff Rhys in Londen op een evenement, georganiseerd door Damon Albarn. Rhys zegt het volgende over de samenwerking: "My time at Aboogi with Imarhan was unforgettable. We hid from the sun and drank hot strong tea in the orange tent within the studio's outdoor compound and exchanged musical ideas. New friends singing in multiple languages; Tamasheq, Welsh, French, English, Arabic drifted on the air from the studio door into the yard. Songs seemed to flow and grow quickly and effortlessly in these conditions. Right where the city meets the mountains, and where you can glimpse both worlds, capped by the ceiling of their gigantic sky - without barely moving your head."
