Galliano draait terug rond de zon

Drie decennia na de vorige release zijn de acid jazz-voorvaders terug.

‘Halfway Somewhere’, de nieuwe plaat van Galliano, verschijnt op Gilles Petersons Brownswood Recordings op 30 augustus.

Circles Going Round The Sun is de titel van de eerste single uit de plaat, waarop Andrew Weatherall en David Mancuso naast George Mackay Brown en Mark Leckey worden genamecheckt.

Rob Gallagher en partner, zangeres Valerie Etienne, worden vervoegd door Ernie McKone op bas, Crispin Taylor op drums en Ski Oakenfull op toetsen (met gastbijdragen van saxofonist Jason Yarde en percussionist Crispin ‘Spry’ Robinson). “I think the stars have to be aligned when you redo things,” legt Gallagher uit. “Coming at it from this door is very different to the door we came into back then. But once it's existing it is something. But I’m still not sure what that something is.”
