Film over veertig jaar The Cure op komst

Eerder deze week kondigden we al aan dat The Cure op 7 juli een concert zal geven in Hyde Park (samen met onder meer Editors, Interpol, Slowdive en Ride) om hun veertigste verjaardag als band te vieren.

Daarbij komt nu dat er ook een nieuwe documentaire / film op komst is.

Tim Pope, die de prent maakt, gaf aan dat er bijzonder unieke en nooit vertoonde fragmenten zullen inzitten.

"The film to which I will bring my own style of jiggery-pokery will use as well as 'old favourites' a cornucopia of material from Robert’s collection which has never been seen before: Super-8; interviews; bootlegs; rare performances; behind-the-scenes, blah. Updates ’as and when", klinkt het op Twitter.

Frontman Robert Smith zou de rode draad vormen en zelf de geschiedenis van zijn band (en zijprojecten) uit de doeken doen.

So, 2018 will see me collaborating with Robert on a feature-length, chronological documentary of The Cure’s history from the 1970s via present day to the future. Robert himself will tell the story and this will work alongside other events for the band’s 40-year celebration.
