Beastie Boys-memoires omvatten ook kookboek en graphic novel
Dat Beastie Boys er al sinds 2013 aan werken, is geen geheim meer. Maar er zitten toch nogal wat verrassingen in die memoires verstopt.
Op 30 oktober kan je alles uit eerste hand (min of meer toch) vernemen wat Beastie Boys betreft. Het persbericht omschrijft het als “a panoramic experience that tells the story of the Beastie Boys, a book as unique as the band itself.” Ad-Rock en Mike D stelden het (uiteraard) samen en kregen hulp van Amy Poehler, Colson Whitehead, Spike Jonze, Wes Anderson en Luc Sante.
Naast de historische gegevens wordt ook nog wat extra’s voorzien: foto’s, originele illustraties, een kookboek van Roy Choi, een graphic novel, een kaart van New York zoals Beastie Boys dat kenden, mixtape playlists en meer. Daarmee worden vijfhonderdtweeënnegentig pagina’s gevuld.
“I’m not sure if you remember, but a while ago we said we were gonna write a book about our band. Well, it’s almost done and it’s coming out soon”, tweetten de heren, “This is what it’s gonna look like. Kinda nice, right?”
