Album nummer vijf voor Cut Copy

Goed nieuws uit Down Under: het Australische Cut Copy komt op 22 september met ‘Haiku From Zero’. Het is het vijfde album van de band en de opvolger van ‘Free Your Mind’ uit 2013, al waren er tussendoor wel verschillende mix-albums.

Het was natuurlijk te verwachten, want eerder lanceerde het kwartet al de single Airborne. Nu is er ook een tweede single die Standing in the Middle of the Field heet en die in twee versies wordt vrijgegeven: een lange en een radio edit van bijna vier minuten. Dat is nog vrij lang, maar de track wordt dan ook weer als vanouds langzaam opgebouwd naar de climax.

Over de albumtitel ‘Haiku From Zero’ zegt frontman Dan Whitford:

“So much of this album is about this mosaic of information, images that we’re surrounded by on a day-to-day basis,” he said. “Sometimes it feels like overload, but there’s a weird random beauty in it. The idea of squeezing poetry form chaos was where the title of the album came from—the idea of finding something poetic in the overload.”
